Description
The influence that St Moritz has on global awareness, since it first welcomed skiers nearly 150 years ago, has grown to become a cinematic and literary destination for luxury getaways. Like no other resort, St Moritz symbolizes everything that should be a postcard of Switzerland: elegance and sophistication, exclusivity, yet warmth and openness.
Montegrappa, the most respected writing instrument manufacturer in Italy, is pleased to announce that it has the honor of creating a series of pens honoring the Swiss resort – St Moritz, with its launch coinciding with the 2010 St Moritz Arts Masters. These events are a mutual fitting representation: of the town itself and the aura of luxury that surrounds fountain pens and rollerballs.
As early as 1934, Alfred Hitchcock filmed the opening scenes of “The Man Who Knew Too Much” in this town. The most romantic musician, Peter Sarstedt, mentioned St Moritz among elite places in his immortal song “Where Do You Go To My Lovely”. Its mere mention conveys the chic of the haute monde.
However, St Moritz offers much more than skiing, golf, and other forms of recreation. Each year, the town welcomes art, famous exhibitions, seminars, walks, and other attractions. The 2010 St Moritz Arts Masters is an event taking place for the third time, from August 27 to September 5. A gathering of artists and collectors, experts and critics – it is a rare opportunity to publicly indulge in art in all its aspects.
The representation of this event will thus be an excellent form of promotion for Montegrappa and the famous town, showcasing their exclusivity. An artist can use this tool - the pen - to display a work of art adorned with a visual representation of St Moritz. To decorate the barrels, Montegrappa's designer chose three historical posters to illustrate the wide range of attractions in St Moritz. Each image is hand-painted by the artist Lorenzo Straffi. The rollerball pens are made from celluloid - an expensive material made from cotton fiber combined with natural dyes and mother of pearl, and then adorned with sterling silver. In this limited edition, 300 rollerball pens made from flame-red celluloid and sterling silver were produced.
The pen allows the buyer to showcase the greatest virtues of art and great success. Perfect as a gift or business present. Highly recommended!
