Description
The influence that St Moritz has on global awareness has grown since it first welcomed skiers nearly 150 years ago, to the point where it has become a cinematic and literary destination for luxury getaways. Unlike any other resort, St Moritz symbolizes everything that a Swiss postcard should: elegance and sophistication, exclusivity, yet warmth and openness.
Montegrappa, the most respected manufacturer of writing instruments in Italy, is pleased to announce that it has the honor of creating a series of pens honoring the Swiss resort – St Moritz, with the premiere coinciding with the 2010 St Moritz Arts Masters. These events are a mutual fitting representation: of the town itself and the luxury atmosphere surrounding fountain pens and rollers.
As early as 1934, Alfred Hitchcock shot the opening scenes of the film “The Man Who Knew Too Much” in this city. The most romantic musician, Peter Sarstedt, mentioned St Moritz among the elite places in his timeless song “Where Do You Go To My Lovely”. Just mentioning it exudes haute monde elegance.
However, St Moritz offers much more than skiing, golf, and other recreational activities. Every year, the city hosts art exhibitions, renowned shows, seminars, walks, and other attractions. The 2010 St Moritz Arts Masters is an event taking place for the third time, from August 27 to September 5. A gathering of artists and collectors, experts and critics – a rare opportunity to publicly indulge in art in all its aspects.
This event’s representation will thus be an excellent promotional opportunity for Montegrappa and the famous town to showcase their exclusivity. An artist can use the tool – a pen – to present a work of art adorned with a visual representation of St Moritz. To decorate the bodies, Montegrappa’s designer chose three historic posters to illustrate the wide range of attractions in St Moritz. Each image is hand-painted by artist Loren Straffi. The ballpoint pens are made from celluloid – a costly material derived from cotton fiber combined with natural dyes and mother-of-pearl, then decorated with sterling silver. In this limited edition, 300 ballpoint pens are made from red-colored celluloid and sterling silver.
The pen allows the owner to showcase the greatest virtues of art and great success. Perfect as a gift or a corporate present. Highly recommended!
