They are crafted with the utmost care so that you can honorably bury your loved ones.
Urn for ashes - when was it created and who invented it?
An urn is a vase or jar for the ashes of deceased loved ones. Cremation is increasingly becoming an alternative to traditional coffin burial. There are many reasons, one of which is sparing loved ones from suffering, as ashes in an urn, on which a photo of the deceased is placed at the funeral, are emotionally easier to bury than the dead body of a person who was talking to us just a few days earlier. The final farewell is then spread over time, with its first stage taking place at the crematorium.
The history of the urn dates back to ancient times, and in Poland, burial with cremation dates back to pre-Christian times. However, the Catholic Church only allowed it in 1963. Currently, cremation is most widespread in India, where bodies are burned on the banks of the Ganges River, in the city of Varanasi. Ancient Hindu practices required burning the surviving wife with her deceased husband. Today, this practice is prohibited.
Can it be kept at home?
The family collects the urn with the ashes of a loved one from the crematorium. Although this type of burial now accounts for almost half of funerals, it is still not legally regulated. However, both the law and the church regulate the storage of urns with ashes. It is absolutely forbidden to keep them at home, as this is prohibited in Poland. The urn with ashes must rest in a tomb, grave, or columbarium, in a cemetery. Therefore, you cannot bury the urn in a home garden or scatter the ashes, for example, over the sea or in the mountains. If the urn with the cremated deceased is not buried and is kept at home, the family faces quite severe penalties under legal regulations. This could be a fine, or in the worst case, imprisonment.
Stone urns, wooden urns, ceramic, porcelain, or bronze?
Depending on preferences and financial means, you can choose elegant and diverse urns. It is an increasingly popular form of burial. Urns can be purchased at a funeral home. Unfortunately, they are not as exclusive as in our online store Luxury Products. We have ensured that you have a diverse selection. In our offer, we propose stone urns made of marble, onyx, ceramic urns, metal urns, brass, and wooden urns. Our collection also includes composite and bronze urns. We offer models in various shapes, smooth or with decorations. Decorated with a cross symbol, floral pattern, or finished with a precious metal such as gold. Elegant and exquisite reliquaries are also available for urns. Our products are of high quality.
How much does a good quality urn for a deceased's ashes cost?
The price of urns depends on the type of materials used. Different models vary in the raw materials from which the urns are made and their decorations. Prices of urns in our store Luxury Products start from a few hundred zlotys. The price of those from the best brands, where gold and numerous decorations dominate, reaches several thousand zlotys.
Do urns decompose?
After cremation, about 3-4 liters of ash remain. They are transferred, depending on the family's decision, for example, into wooden urns or stone urns. Which urn is chosen is decided by the deceased during their lifetime or by the family.
It's difficult to definitively answer whether urns decompose. It all depends on where the urn is buried and what material it is made from. The type of embellishments it has is also significant. Urns made of metal, ceramic, or stone that are placed in an above-ground tomb or columbarium, which is a cemetery wall for urns, will not decompose. A wooden urn buried in the ground, however, will decompose. This process is shorter than the decomposition of a coffin due to the significant difference in the size of urns.
