| Additional information | Aizu maki-e is one of the traditional crafts originating from the castle town of Aizu. It is one of the crafts with the longest history in Japan, dating back approximately 400 years. Aizu maki-e is well known for its bold and decorative designs that are color gradated and use a specialized polishing technique, making them very attractive. The fountain pen features a variety of vibrant patterns with radene (inlaid with a variety of sea shells) drawing thin lines that add gradation to express the "Northern Lights".
