Description
Italian company Montegrappa has been providing you with comfort and satisfaction since 1912 with such an original and luxurious product as the limited edition collections of Montegrappa.
This time, we would like to introduce the collection - La Traviata – Giuseppe Verdi’s opera from 1853, based on A. Dumas’ The Lady of the Camellias. It brought fame to its creator during its debut at the Fenice Opera House in Venice on 06.03.1853, and inspired Montegrappa to create another writing instrument in its limited collection "Emozioni in Musica". The incredible character of Violetta – the heroine of the opera – has been precisely depicted on the pen’s body. Her face is made of (depending on the version) solid silver (925) or gold (18K). The cap top is decorated with a camellia flower, which Violetta always wore in her attire to highlight her beautiful face.
The delicately contoured cap is decorated with a red celluloid ring, which in a more luxurious version is made with a diadem set with 12 diamonds. The clip features a typical 18th-century ornament – from the period when the opera was set. The gold version of the pen with precious stones is decorated with pavé diamonds and two diamonds on the sides. The camellia decorations on the body were created using a technique called low-relief engraving (from the English pietra dura). In the center of the body, between the decorations, is an extraordinary face of Violetta. During the creation of this decoration in the Silver version, a hand-tool engraving method was used. An ancient technique mastered by only a few artists worldwide. Exceptional skill is required to apply it flawlessly.
Montegrappa chose solid silver (925) for this pen. The rest of the pen is made of red-colored celluloid, which has always been associated with passion.
18K gold nib – made of white gold with decorations in yellow gold in the Silver version, and yellow gold with decorations in white gold in more luxurious versions – decorated with the initials "V.V." representing Violetta Valery. Each writing instrument in this series comes with an elegant box referencing the curtains of 18th-century operas. The entire series is crafted with meticulous attention to detail by world-class artisans.
This rare, precious item expresses the character of its owner and ensures the pleasure of writing and discovering exceptional emotions. Highly recommended!
