Description

The Horizon Modern Sideboard evokes stories of Portuguese maritime explorations, narrated by brilliant poets and ordinary people for centuries afterward.

Inspired by the divine vision of new land seen from distant waters, the contemporary Horizon sideboard was designed with organic shoreline contours in mind. The modern sideboard combines walnut root with black lacquer. The luxurious base complements internal drawers with opulent gold finishes.

The Malabar brand was founded in 2012, alongside the launch of a wide range of decorative Fado guitars and the elegant World Architects furniture collection. It has designed and released a total of 5 exceptional furniture and accessory series.

Malabar has left its mark at the most prestigious international fairs, such as 100% Design London, Maison & Objet, Decorex, Stockholm Furniture Fair, and Seoul International. These are among the top venues for showcasing.

Malabar furniture production comes from the Porto area, in northern Portugal, a region with a long-standing tradition of handcrafted products.

The identity of this luxury brand is rooted in the architectural and artistic heritage of the past five centuries.

International experience and a pursuit of perfection are the details that define such original companies. Emotions, handcrafted execution, and space-age design create an explosive mix of luxury furniture.

Various techniques in working with natural wood produce incredible effects, as seen in Malabar’s exceptional collections. An important aspect of the design is the combination of neutral and black colors.

Vivid and striking hues dominate, significantly diverging from classic and stereotypical furniture.

Besides wood, the manufactory uses brass, gold and silver leaf, and other high-quality raw materials.

The Portuguese soul is very colorful and fascinating, clearly reflected in the bold furniture designs.

The company's name itself derives from Malabar black pepper. Along with other spices, it changed the course of trade history with the discovery of the Cape. The value of original spices prompted Portuguese merchants to chart a daring sea route.

That remains true today, as Malabar continues to set highly individual boundaries in design and evokes strong emotions with its projects. They are very liberated, seductive, bold, and extremely luxurious.

And these are exactly the kinds of products we love and bring to the My Luxury Products platform.

What raw materials does Malabar use?

The company employs the most refined types of wood, including: ebony, walnut, American walnut, oak, ironwood, wenge, basswood, olive wood, bird’s eye, irregular grain, poplar, satinwood, and ash.

Malabar also applies ancient lacquer techniques. First, copper, gold, silver, pink, or tiger-colored leaf is applied, then lacquered.

The types of glass used by the manufacturer include: dark glass, smoked, gold, antique, and antique brown.

The marble varieties are diverse, including: Sahara, Gray Kenzo, Nero Marquina, Portoro, Gris Douro, Black Gold, Guatemala Verde, Tiger Skin, Ochre, Calacatta Vagli, Estremoz, Carrara Gold, Carrara, White Extreme, and Travertine.

Metals are selected based on efficiency and quality. High-quality premium metals such as copper, stainless steel, and galvanized steel are used. Precise options include chrome, nickel-plated black brass, polished brass, gilded brass, polished copper, antique brass, silver brass, brushed brass, polished brass, and hammered polished copper.

We are happy to arrange a meeting and present all available materials about the Malabar brand. Our Luxury Products team will advise and select the most suitable furnishings and accessories for your interiors.
