Description

Silver Hanukkah from the early 20th century, created with a base resting on four shaped legs, decorated at the front with two rosettes featuring a circular beaded frame and a central oval tray. Eight candle holders are attached to the edge, with a ninth inserted into the side compass. In the central relief of the facade, it is visible that the main part depicts a procession of figures dressed in tunics, raising lamps, trumpets, and scrolls. A hook for wall hanging has been welded to the back. In our opinion, the lamp dates from around 1920, even though it bears Russian marks from 1884 in Saint Petersburg.

The Chanukkiyah or Hanukkiah is a nine-branched menorah (eight branches plus the central one that lights the other candles) used for lighting lamps (more often candles) each evening during the celebration of Hanukkah. Lighting this menorah in each family symbolically expresses the eternity and vitality of Judaism in its fidelity to the Law.

Elegant antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for decorating our interiors. Today, there is an increasing number of enthusiasts of high-quality vintage items that possess a distinct character and soul. It is a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the design of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its own distinctive features.

There are many styles characterizing antique furniture, but we can highlight a few of the most important. Eclectic furniture refers to the 19th century, dominated by the Biedermeier style. Its variants in the early years of this century include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis Philippe style, and finally the English Victorian style. Toward the end of the century, these styles transition into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.

Empire-style furniture dates from the period between the late 18th and early 19th centuries. It originated during Napoleon’s reign, characterized by significant similarities and references to Roman and Greek ornamentation.

Neoclassical furniture is associated with Louis XVI style, which also strongly references ancient architecture. Notable and worth mentioning are antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles. The next is Baroque, a term derived from Portuguese 'barocco'—meaning an irregularly developed pearl. These were highly ornate pieces designed to radiate splendor and play a significant role in luxury. Unique, selectively used materials were employed to emphasize the grandeur of these items.

Today, we can observe how much the Baroque style influenced modern classic furniture, which is often designed with a strong resemblance to the historical period. An important style as well is Renaissance, which flourished in the 15th and 16th centuries and also left a significant mark on furniture craftsmanship. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and solid, using brown stains, cornices, sturdy bases, and reliefs. These were quite distinctive products, offering many new possibilities, such as the construction of credenzas or broadly defined chest furniture. Mythology and ancient times also inspired these designs, with supports and legs often taking animal forms.

Lion paws, eagle heads—these are common motifs in Renaissance style. Currently, many global brands recreate such furniture, drawing inspiration from Italian and French artisans. This reflects admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It is important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently in each country, so each style had its unique character. This is especially important when searching for elegant antiques suitable for your interior.

The most important aspect of elite antique furniture is originality. This is ultimately crucial for buyers, as many forgeries circulate on the market. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the product’s authenticity and compliance with the description and photos. We also have access to art appraisers, historians, and experts from around the world.
