iMuranesi is an artistic project that initially existed only in the imagination of Giampaolo Barbin. He brought with him the heritage of one of the oldest Venetian families, associated with glassmaking.
Models of this brand are unique thanks to the synergy of many equally important elements. These include harmony of detail, the use of modern manufacturing techniques, sophisticated and bold design, and a strong connection between top designers and glassmakers.
This company combines contemporary creativity with traditional Venetian glassmaking values. Behind this designer project, however, lies experience dating back to medieval times. Back then, the authorities decided to concentrate all glassmakers in Venice in one place. To this day, the name of this place is known worldwide, and the products originating from there delight crowds.
The Barbin family is one of the respected medieval noble families. These glassmakers left their mark on the Murano island as early as the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, during the Venetian Republic, the Barbin family was recorded in the Golden Book of Murano Society’s Notables by decree of the Council of Ten, known as the register of the most distinguished Venetian glassmakers.
Additionally, the family was granted a coat of arms — two bearded wise men facing each other with a star between them on a blue background — which can still be seen today in the Glass Museum on Murano island.
