The “Royal Privileged Porcelain Factory Tettau” has been in operation for over 200 years, making it the oldest porcelain factory in Bavaria. The great Alexander v. Sam Humboldt fought for its establishment in 1794.

Almost 100 years later, over 200 employees work here, including turners, glaze specialists, kiln operators, color painters, and other artisans in the production halls.

In 1918, the management chose Max Wunderlich, who after World War II shifted production from affordable tableware to exclusive coffee and tea sets, which have since been sold worldwide as genuine, mostly handcrafted treasures. However, this does not satisfy the brand, which continuously strives to better meet today’s demands. With the invention of a special hard porcelain, sold under the name Diamant, Königlich Tettau achieved a world first in the 2010/2011 season: a combination of the aesthetics of creamy and soft porcelain with the durability of hard porcelain. Since 1957, the company has been part of the Seltmann Weiden group.

To counteract the ongoing pressure from cheap imports from the Far East, the production, sales, and administration of Königlich priv. Tettau are integrated within the Seltmann Group locations in Rudolstadt / Volkstedt and Erbendorf. Thanks to these measures, the management of Seltmann Weiden and Königlich priv. Tettau has credibly ensured the continuation of the company's production and sales of “Königlich privilegierte Porzellan fabrik Tettau” products.

Founded in 1910, the company “Porzellanfabriken Christian Seltmann” evolved into a group of companies still managed as a family business, through the acquisition of “Königlich Privierte Porzellanfabrik Tettau,” which includes four specialized porcelain factories and an art department established in 1990. In five plants, around 1,000 employees produce exceptional porcelain for households, hotels, catering, institutional dining, and incentive programs. The next goal is to produce especially valuable sculptures by renowned artists and high-quality gifts.

Through the acquisition of the Königlich Tettau porcelain factory and the manufactory group, Seltmann Group has over 250 years of experience in porcelain production. The group's porcelain meets the highest global standards in design, functionality, durability, and exclusivity.
