Inspired by Sylvester Stallone and his latest film: “The Expendables,” the theme and design drew from classic art to express his vision of chaos. In collaboration with Montegrappa artists, the actor and brand ambassador turned to the classical arts to convey his interpretation of chaos. To ensure the language of expression was refined and not exaggerated, they looked to 16th-century artists. Albrecht Dürer is another artist who influenced the design of the “Chaos” pen. This German painter, engraver, and theorist from Nuremberg was widely regarded as the most important Renaissance artist in Northern Europe. His most famous works include the woodcut “Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.” Known globally as a master of small forms due to the size of his engravings, the last influence on the “Chaos” design came from the Pollaiuolo brothers. Italian sculptors, painters, engravers, and goldsmiths involved in numerous projects, their collaboration was marked by a joint signature. Their most notable works include the altarpiece in the chapel of Cardinal Portugal in San Miniato al Monte and the Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian. Everything they created, individually and together, had a significant impact on the era they lived in.
Sylvester Stallone explains: “My idea of Chaos is a sense of the Renaissance, where things were simpler and perhaps more noble, in contrast to our current technological society.”

The “Chaos” pen is crafted from precious materials and produced in a limited edition. The pen body is made from black pearl celluloid coated with sterling silver or 18-karat gold. The pen components are finished by experienced Montegrappa artisans. They feature antique finishes with accents of semi-transparent shilf in yellow and red, symbolizing fire. The design is characterized by a confrontation of life and death, historically represented by early forms of life on Earth: reptiles such as snakes and lizards, or skulls.
Alongside the striking pen, there is also a prominently featured sword-shaped clip, adorned with fist and skull.

The “Chaos” fountain pen is the first in the “Cult” collection and is available in a limited quantity of 1,000 fountain pens and 912 ballpoint pens made from sterling silver, representing the founding year of Montegrappa – 1912. Additionally, this collection includes 100 fountain pens and 100 ballpoint pens made from 18-karat gold, as well as 10 fountain and ballpoint pens crafted from 18-karat gold with gemstones, intended for enthusiasts of cinema legends and Montegrappa.
