Perfect Alchemist Fountain Pen Silver + Resin

Inspired by the novel of Brazilian author Paulo Coelho, the Italian manufacturer Montegrappa created the Alchemist fountain pen. The collection was officially launched in Bassano del Grappa on Saint Joseph's Day, March 19, 2012.
When the pen was first presented to the author, Paulo remarked in his review: “I am impressed by the immense power of this pen.” The pen is heavy, not only in weight but also in the message and symbols that are incorporated throughout the entire design.

This true work of art is a delight for the soul and the eye. The Alchemist represents the four elements: air, fire, earth, and water. Only 125 pieces of the fountain pen are produced to symbolize each element. Montegrappa has crafted an extraordinarily beautiful pen with a highly expressive structure. The design captures the spiritual essence of the novel. This pen makes a remarkable impression, and the perfection of craftsmanship and the precision with which its details are recreated place it, in our opinion, among the most beautiful pens of the past few years! The body is a symbolic representation of the universe concept from "The Alchemist," where the central ring with the sun separates the sky from the lower parts. The wheels symbolize the seven alchemical processes, and the names of the seven cosmic elements are engraved on the casing. On the pyramid, there is a fragment of each metal. The nib is decorated with a "Divine Eye" gazing at the earth.

In 1986, Brazilian writer Paulo Coelho undertook a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. This event inspired him to write the novel "The Pilgrimage." The following year, he wrote and published "The Alchemist," which became a worldwide bestseller. Over 65 million copies have been sold, translated into 71 languages. This is a world record for the most translations of a book published during the author's lifetime.  An apparently simple story about a shepherd seeking happiness, it takes the form of a travel adventure, thanks to fascinating characters who influence his decisions.

The Alchemist edition includes a total of 1987 pieces of fountain and ballpoint pens to commemorate the first edition of the novel.  71 pieces of the Solid Gold edition (38 fountain pens and 33 ballpoint pens) — the number of languages into which the novel has been translated.

1000 pieces of the Sterling Silver/Enamel edition representing the four elements — earth, water, air, and fire (125 of each fountain pen and ballpoint pen). 16 pieces of the Gold/Diamond edition.
