The sleek shape pays homage to a life in search of plasticity, the body and cap are oval like the faces of people in the portraits, the clip is long and uneven like their noses, the cap ring has the characteristic irregular shape of the lips he painted. Modigliani's characteristic feature—a strong and vibrant brushstroke, visible in each of his paintings, is recreated using the precious resin from which these pens are made. The color of the rollerball pen is the same as in several of his works: deep blue, like Parisian nights. The top of the cap features and connects the Montegrappa logo with a single stone—a symbol of the uniqueness of genius, which in the platinum version is a topaz.
