Inspiration for the collection came from costumes, set design, librettos, and most of all, the emotions emanating from arias on opera stages worldwide. Luxurious materials and the craftsmanship of goldsmith artists have ensured that each writing instrument in the collection bears a unique mark of the emotions associated with opera and the Montegrappa brand. Verdi's "La Traviata", the most frequently performed opera in the world, inspired Montegrappa to create a new series of writing instruments called "Emozioni in Musica" (emotions in music). The strong personality of the opera's main character — Violetta Valéry — is reflected in almost every detail of the collection.

The incredible character of Violetta — the opera's heroine — has been precisely depicted on the pen body. Her face is crafted in 18K gold. The cap top is decorated with a camellia flower, which Violetta always wore in her attire to accentuate her beautiful face.

The delicately contoured cap is decorated with a red celluloid ring, which in a more luxurious version is made as a diadem with 12 diamonds. The clip features a typical 18th-century ornament — from the period when the opera takes place. The camellia decorations on the body are created using low-relief engraving technique. In the Silver version, this decoration was made with a chisel engraving method. In the gold and diamond versions, hot enamel technique was used — an ancient technique mastered by few artists worldwide. Exceptional skill is required to apply it flawlessly.

Montegrappa chose 18K yellow gold for this collection. The rest of the pen is made from red-colored celluloid, which has always been associated with passion. The 18K gold nib — yellow gold with white gold embellishments in this luxurious version — is decorated with the initials "V.V." representing Violetta Valéry. Each writing instrument in this series comes with an ornate box inspired by the curtains of 18th-century operas. The entire series is crafted with meticulous attention to detail by world-class artisans.
