Luxurious New St Andrews 2012 Ballpoint Pen Bamboo Black Gold

An Italian manufacturer specializing in producing the most prestigious and sought-after writing instruments Montegrappa has been asked for the second time to create a pen honoring the greatest breakthrough event in golf: the creation of the St Andrews golf course. Drawing on its experience as an initiator among luxury writing instrument producers, Montegrappa is proud to offer the perfect pen to commemorate "Home Of Golf" – the headquarters of golf, the St Andrews golf courses.

In 2010, the 150th anniversary of "The Open Championship" was celebrated at the oldest golf course in the world – "The Old Course" in St Andrews. This inspired the creation of a new range of writing instruments produced by Montegrappa, showcasing the quality, history, and beauty associated with the golf courses in St. Andrews.

This collection features green celluloid with a detailed cabochon golf ball on the cap and the St Andrews golf course logo on the body, which, according to Montegrappa, pays tribute to six centuries of golf played on the St Andrews courses, dating back to around 1400 AD. During the 19th century, golf evolved from factory workers’ pastime into a way of life for the local community. Golf remains a cultural and economic cornerstone of St Andrews to this day.
We are pleased to introduce the new limited edition family of pens for 2012. Montegrappa offers a fountain pen and a ballpoint pen in versions made of black celluloid and sterling silver, or in bamboo black-colored celluloid with 18K rose gold. Writing instruments made from sterling silver will be produced in a limited quantity of 600 pieces each; this number represents the years of golf played in St Andrews. Meanwhile, the gold versions include only 7 fountain pens and 7 ballpoint pens to reflect the number of local golf courses.
The last, special, hand-engraved edition called "18th Hole" completes the collection with 18 fountain pens and 18 ballpoint pens made of 18K rose gold and green celluloid. The pattern on the body depicts a golfer in period attire preparing to swing. The image was skillfully recreated from an original photograph by engraver Mario Rossetti. The ring surrounding the cap is decorated with golf images.
