The Tibaldi Sovereign Military Order of Malta (SMOM) fountain pen in 18k gold is a valuable work of art, perfectly designed with a pattern inspired by medieval chainmail armor. The cap features an elegant depiction of a Maltese knight, with a discreet engraved panel above, allowing for personalization with the end of the user’s name or initials. The most recognizable symbol associated with the Order, the Maltese cross, adorns the barrel. It is hand-painted by a skilled artist, Lorena Straffi. Finished with silver, it contrasts beautifully with the carnelian gemstone decorating the ornament. The clip, shaped like a tie, resembles early 20th-century feather pens. The construction of the clip, ending with a small ring, makes it easy to place the pen in a case or jacket pocket. Laboratory tests have confirmed that the clip is secured to the ring, not the cap.
Thanks to extensive technical and laboratory research, the clasp is mounted on the ring rather than on the cap.
