In 1989, the founder of Scatola del Tempo, at the beginning of his new venture, decided to evolve the watch cases he created for storing his watches, producing a small series of watch winders for himself and his friends. His goal: to simulate natural movements to care for the watches and keep them set at the correct time. As a passionate collector of Patek Philippe watches, in 1990 he presented his invention to a renowned watchmaking house, which, after years of testing, decided to order 500 watch winders. Thanks to this collaboration, Scatola del Tempo quickly became known among collectors worldwide.
In the production cycle, everything begins with designing the internal shapes and sizes to fit almost all current watch styles, for storage and transport with full safety. Each form is first covered with shock-absorbing material, then genuine calf leather. This delicate operation is performed manually with years of experience. Other details, such as clasps and zippers, are also crafted in exclusive designs and finished with a palladium coating to ensure durability and long-lasting wear.
Thanks to high-performance mechanisms, 100% made in Switzerland, the watch winders are completely autonomous for three years. They require only two simple 1.5 V alkaline batteries to operate. The watch holders are secured in place by a locking system. The watch will automatically position itself upright when the winder is stopped.
