One of the most ambitious projects in illustrious history, proudly presents Montegrappa. The Brain Pen, featuring a new creation by the Italian manufacturer. It is the result of a long collaboration with the greatest authority in the field of intellect, Professor Restak, author of over 20 books about the human brain.

To create a pen that represents the complexity of the organ it is dedicated to, Montegrappa’s designers drew inspiration directly from the brain. The connection between the brain and the pen, which is present in the process and art of writing as an extension of human ability to express oneself through the use of the brain, prompted Montegrappa to illustrate this direct intellectual and physical link. This special relationship is symbolically represented by the contrast between the fundamental elements of the pen’s construction, paralleling the human body: the cap is intricate and complex like the human organ of reason, while the body is simple, reflecting the human form.

The cross-section of the brain, based on an ancient illustration, decorates the top of the cap. Its surface depicts neural ganglia, while the clip takes the form of the spinal cord. The pen features a spring mechanism, and the tip of the clip is lacquered in red or blue, distinguishing the fountain pen from the ballpoint pen. The nib of the fountain pen is engraved with a seahorse image, referring to the hippocampus, a key component of the human brain and brains of other vertebrates. The hippocampus plays an important role in transferring information from short-term to long-term memory and in spatial orientation.

Montegrappa is dedicated to producing exclusive creations of the highest quality, which in turn express many feelings through the simple act of writing. Each Brain Pen comes with a copy of a book written specifically for Montegrappa by Professor Restak.
