Description

Based on the iconic, limited edition 1930 Extra series, Montegrappa paid tribute to the Italian flag with the Italy 150th Anniversary edition. Italy, known as a great land of antiquity, boasts a magnificent history encompassing Etruscan civilizations and the Roman Empire. It played a significant role in the Renaissance. Victor Emmanuel II became the first king of unified Italy in 1861, holding the title until his death in 1878. Marking one and a half centuries since his coronation, the Montegrappa pen in its final colours is a symbol of a united Italy, Bandiera d'Italia, affectionately called "tricolore italiano". This combination of colours has become a connotation of Italy; we find it on cars, clothing labels, restaurant menus. When we see three vertical stripes of green, white, and red, regardless of context, our thoughts turn to Italy.

Article 12 of the Italian Constitution, approved by the Legislative Assembly on December 22, 1947, states that: "The flag of the Republic is the Italian tricolor. Green, white, and red, in three vertical stripes of equal width," referencing the red and white flags of Milan and the green of the civic guard uniform. In its early form, it also bore an emblem consisting of a laurel wreath adorned with a trophy of arms and four arrows, representing the four provinces that formed the Cispadane Republic. This banner evolved over two centuries into its current form, adopted on January 1, 1948, alongside the widespread adoption of the Republican Constitution and the end of the Sabaudian dynasty's rule.

The three colours also adorn commemorative pens based on the iconic Montegrappa 1930 Extra, finished in resin. For the 150th Anniversary of the Italian Flag, a limited collection of 1500 fountain and ballpoint pens was issued, with silver finishes. The Silver Edition is complemented by an additional 150 fountain pens and 150 ballpoints, finished with 18K gold accents.

Thanks to Montegrappa, a proud symbol of Italian style and creativity, a series of limited writing instruments has been created. We can feel the closeness to the history of this magnificent country and inspire others by owning a luxury pen.
