Description
St. Moritz offers much more than skiing, golf, and other recreational activities. Every year, the city hosts art exhibitions, renowned shows, seminars, walks, and other attractions. The 2010 St Moritz Arts Masters is an event taking place for the third time, from August 27 to September 5. A gathering of artists and collectors, experts and critics – a rare opportunity to publicly indulge in art in all its aspects.
The Italian manufacturer Montegrappa is pleased to announce that it has the honor of creating a series of pens honoring the Swiss resort – St Moritz, with the premiere coinciding with 2010 St Moritz Arts Masters. These events are a mutual fitting representation: of the town itself and the luxury atmosphere surrounding the fountain pens and rollers.
Everything that should be a postcard of Switzerland: elegance and refinement, exclusivity, yet warmth and openness, symbolizes, like no other resort, St. Moritz. It is wonderful that the influence St Moritz has on global consciousness, since it first welcomed skiers nearly 150 years ago, has grown enough to become a film and literary destination for luxury getaways.
As early as 1934, Alfred Hitchcock shot the initial scenes of the film “The Man Who Knew Too Much” in this city. It was also a beautiful backdrop for the film, which was made exactly 30 years later in the James Bond series: “Goldfinger” and for “For Your Eyes Only” from 1981. The most romantic musician, Peter Sarstedt, mentioned St Moritz among the elite places in his timeless song “Where Do You Go To My Lovely”. Just mentioning it exudes haute monde style.
The representation of this event will therefore be an excellent form of promotion for Montegrappa and the famous town, showcasing its luxury. The artist can use this tool – the pen – to showcase a piece of art adorned with visual representations of St Moritz. To decorate the bodies, Montegrappa’s designer chose three historic posters to illustrate the wide range of attractions in St Moritz. Each image is hand-painted by artist Lorena Straffi. The fountain pens are made from brown celluloid – a costly material derived from cotton fiber combined with natural dyes and mother-of-pearl, and are decorated with 18K gold and sterling silver. In this limited edition, only 8 fountain pens have been produced.
The meticulous craftsmanship will ensure comfortable use and satisfaction with such an original and luxurious product, as the limited collections by Montegrappa undoubtedly are.
