Description
The esteemed Italian writing instrument manufacturer Montegrappa is pleased to announce the creation of a series of pens honoring the Swiss resort – St Moritz, with the premiere coinciding with the 2010 St Moritz Arts Masters. These events are a mutual fitting representation: of the town itself and the aura of luxury surrounding the fountain pens and rollers.
Everything that should be a postcard of Switzerland: elegance and sophistication, exclusivity, yet warmth and openness, symbolizes St. Moritz like no other resort. It is wonderful that the influence St Moritz has on global awareness, since it first welcomed skiers nearly 150 years ago, has grown enough to become a film and literary destination for luxury getaways.
As early as 1934, Alfred Hitchcock shot the opening scenes of the film “The Man Who Knew Too Much” in this city. It also served as a beautiful backdrop for the film, exactly 30 years later, in the James Bond series: “Goldfinger” and for “For Your Eyes Only” from 1981. The most romantic musician, Peter Sarstedt, listed St Moritz among the elite places in his timeless song “Where Do You Go To My Lovely”. Mentioning it alone exudes haute monde sophistication.
However, St Moritz offers much more than skiing, golf, and other recreational activities. Every year, the city hosts art exhibitions, renowned shows, seminars, walks, and other attractions. The 2010 St Moritz Arts Masters is an event held for the third time, taking place from August 27 to September 5. A gathering of artists, collectors, experts, and critics – a rare opportunity to publicly indulge in art in all its aspects.
This event’s representation will thus be an excellent form of promotion for Montegrappa and the famous town, showcasing their exclusivity. An artist can use this tool – a pen – to showcase a work of art adorned with visual representations of St Moritz. To decorate the bodies, Montegrappa’s designer chose three historic posters to illustrate the wide range of attractions in St Moritz. Each image is hand-painted by artist Lorena Straffi. The fountain pens are made from red celluloid – a costly material derived from cotton fiber combined with natural dyes and mother-of-pearl, and are decorated with 18K gold and sterling silver. In this limited edition, only 8 ballpoint pens have been produced.
This rare, precious item expresses the character of its owner and provides the pleasure of writing and discovering exceptional emotions.
