Elegant armchair - garden chaise longue made of teak

This teak wood sunbed with footrest is a reinterpretation of a very famous chair originally designed in 1903 by Thomas Lee during his vacation in Westport, New York, for his summer home.

In this way, he tested the first model, quite different from the current one: initially, it consisted of eleven wooden elements cut from the same board and featured wide armrests, which later became a characteristic feature of the chair. The chair was then called the “Westport Plank Chair,” because Lee showed the model to Westport carpenter Harry Brunnel, who immediately realized how well it suited the needs of both summer and winter vacationers at the resort. Apparently, without Lee’s knowledge, he registered the design in 1905 and produced it, enjoying great popularity for the next twenty years. The chair was such a cult favorite in the American region at the turn of the century that it was also known as the Muskoka chair, after the popular recreational area north of Toronto.

Solid wood

Boards obtained by sawing logs are dried and then transformed into components using Milling Machines, Routers, Dowel Jigs, Cutters, and Sanders. The parts are then assembled with mortise and tenon joints and glued with epoxy adhesives and steel screws, then covered with wooden plugs.

Metal

Metal rods are cut, bent manually or with CNC, then welded and assembled, smoothed, and cleaned. Products requiring painting are then sent to the finishing department.

Fabrics

Metal or wooden rods are hand-woven according to the desired pattern, at this stage only artisan experience guarantees the final product.

Thermoplastic material

Polyethylene granules are fed into a system that, after installing the necessary mold, creates the desired shape through a heating and cooling cycle, in neutral or mass-colored options.
Painting

Products requiring painting are processed in a facility equipped with powder coating and water-based painting lines.

Stuffed

All fabrics are cut and sewn to measure using the finest threads and accessories. Foam rubber of various densities and types is cut from sheets of standard sizes and possibly reassembled to create complex shapes, then covered with protective fabric and joined with fabric.

Each product is carefully packed to ensure it arrives in perfect condition to its new owner!
