Two hundred plasterers, artists, carpenters, and other craftsmen were involved in restoring the atmosphere and style of the old theatre, evoking the 19th century. The grand reopening took place on December 14, 2003, marked by concerts of Beethoven, Wagner, and Stravinsky. The first opera performed in the "new" La Fenice was "La Traviata" in 2004.
