Beautiful design and attention to the finest details guarantee the highest quality from Tettau. The “Royal Privileged Porcelain Factory Tettau” has been in operation for over 200 years, making it the oldest porcelain factory in Bavaria. The great Alexander v. Sam Humboldt fought for its establishment in 1794.

Almost 100 years later, over 200 employees work here, including turners, firing specialists, painters, colorists, and other artisans in the production halls.

In 1918, the management entrusted Max Wunderlich, who after World War II shifted production from affordable tableware to exquisite coffee and tea sets, which have since been sold worldwide as true, mostly handcrafted treasures. However, this does not satisfy the company, which continues to pursue new achievements by constantly striving to better meet today’s demands. With the invention of a special hard porcelain, sold under the name Diamant, Königlich Tettau achieved a global innovation in the 2010/2011 season: a combination of the aesthetics of creamy and soft porcelain with the durability of hard porcelain. Since 1957, the company has been part of the Seltmann Weiden group.

To counteract the ongoing pressure from cheap imports from the Far East, the production, sales, and administration of Königlich priv. Tettau are integrated within the Seltmann Group locations in Rudolstadt / Volkstedt and Erbendorf. Thanks to these measures, the management of Seltmann Weiden and Königlich priv. Tettau have credibly ensured the continuation of production and sales of the “Königlich privilegierte Porzellan fabrik Tettau” products.

Founded in 1910, the company “Porzellanfabriken Christian Seltmann” evolved into a group of companies still managed as a family business, through the acquisition of “Königlich Privierte Porzellanfabrik Tettau” with four specialized porcelain factories and an art department established in 1990. In five plants, approximately 1,000 employees produce excellent porcelain for households, hotels, catering, institutional foodservice, and incentive programs. The next goal is the production of particularly valuable sculptures by renowned artists and high-quality gifts.

With the acquisition of the Königlich Tettau porcelain factory and the Seltmann Group manufactory, the company has over 250 years of experience in porcelain manufacturing. The group's porcelain products meet the highest global standards in design, functionality, durability, and exclusivity. These properties are maintained only in Germany, reflecting the high standard of quality. In line with this philosophy, the Seltmann Group—one of the few porcelain producers—keeps all its production facilities in Germany. Seltmann developed its own “Made in Germany” seal to credibly and sustainably emphasize the company's focus on quality and workplace safety.
