Description

Original design

combined with the highest quality materials and craftsmanship creates an image

of the Florence Art brand.

Tradition

Among the streets of Florence, you can breathe art, from S. Croce to Ponte Vecchio, and then again among sculptures

and paintings and furnishings of the Medici villas, an exceptional city, a territory where artists and

craftsmen have found their life force for centuries. The Florence Art brand was born in 1950

from this tradition, the manual skills of Tuscan workers, love for art and beauty, and a passion for

classics and what made this territory great. It was established as a sculpture workshop and has always been a manufacturing brand, which researches new products, designs them, creates samples, and sculpts them

entirely by hand, pantographs them, and prepares them for decoration. All production is carried out entirely in

"Florentine style", with each element designed by one of our designers, making it

unique.

Design

Florence Art, with its in-house designers, sculptors, and carpenters, can execute any

type of work, even outside the Florentine style, as evidenced by some projects completed for luxury hotels.

On every Art Florence item, modifications and adjustments can be made, as well as work for modifications by a carpenter entirely by hand. In this way, the brand can furnish a bedroom, living room, bathroom, or boudoir, according to your design.

Style

The Florentine style is characterized by the way sculptures, finishes, and product designs are executed, and these features are unique to a very small area, which is Florence. Every item made in the Florentine style has carved parts, but with a current, fresh, elegant taste; each part is well “toothed,” meaning well-defined, harmonizing with a classic yet very youthful style. The lines of the items are simultaneously elegant and romantic. Silver, colored, and gold finishes make each line even more elegant and youthful.

Pattern and Sculpture

Sculpture results from the increasingly difficult to preserve legacy of Florentine traditions, distinguished by grace, harmony, and serving as an element that highlights and identifies the entire production line. As is the case in Florence, it cannot be confused with other geographical areas. Professional figures with high skills and stylistic knowledge are required, such as a “sculptor” who must create “models” of each item and then sculpt them.

A model is the part used to reproduce the sculpture with a pantograph, and to create it first, a scaled drawing of the item is needed, then it is entirely hand-sculpted in wood. It is cut into pieces because the pantograph works on sections no wider than about 20 cm and about 190 cm long. Working with the pantograph requires a “Pantograph” that copies the model into 16 or 24 pieces, then “carpenters,” highly specialized, because they need to know how to assemble the carved elements. Only these three professionals ensure that the production is more skilled and valuable.

Decoration

Decoration, always entirely handmade, becomes an even more skilled element in various finishes; those made in Florence are incomparable with those from any other geographical area:

“Gouache” decoration used throughout art history, from the Renaissance, which originated in Florence, and in all other stylistic periods, applies to both gold leaf (e.g., Zecchino and Antique Patina) and real silver leaf finishes (Ghiaccio, Bianco, Consumato, Strappato), which could then be covered with Meccata (a special ancient color, still used, called Mekka, in finishes, Mekka and MeccaAntica), to resemble gold when in the past there was no money to purchase real gold.
