Description
Fascinating design combined with the highest quality raw materials and craftsmanship give the brand Florence Art its synonym.
Tradition
Among the streets of Florence, you can breathe art, from S. Croce to Ponte Vecchio, and then again among sculptures, paintings, and furnishings of the Medici villas—an exceptional city, territory, where artists and artisans have found their life force for centuries. Florence Art was born in 1950 from this tradition, the manual skills of Tuscan craftsmen, love for art and beauty, passion for classics and what made this territory great. It was established as a sculptural company and has always been a manufacturing brand that researches new products, designs them, creates samples, sculpting them entirely by hand, pantographing, and preparing them for decoration. All production is carried out entirely in Florentine style; each element is designed by one of our designers and is unique.
Design
With its internal designers, sculptors, and carpenters, Florence Art can execute any type of work, even outside the Florentine style, as evidenced by some projects made for luxury hotels. On every Florence Art item, modifications and adjustments can be made, including fully manual modifications by carpenters. This way, the brand can furnish a bedroom, living room, bathroom, or boudoir according to your design.
Style
The Florentine style is identified by the way sculptures, finishes, and designs are executed, and these features are unique to a very small area—Florence. Every item made in the Florentine style has carved parts, but with a current, fresh, elegant taste; each part is well “toothed,” meaning well-defined, harmonizing with a classic yet youthful style. The lines of the items are simultaneously elegant and romantic. Silver, colored, and gold finishes make each line even more elegant and youthful.
Pattern and Sculpture
Sculpture results from the increasingly challenging Florentine tradition's legacy, distinguished by grace and harmony, and is a key element in highlighting and identifying the entire production line. As is the case in Florence, it cannot be confused with other regions. Skilled professionals with strong design abilities and stylistic knowledge are required, such as a “sculptor” who must create “models” of each item and then sculpt them.
A model is the part used to reproduce the sculpture with a pantograph. To produce it, an article drawing at scale is needed, then it is entirely hand-carved in wood. It is cut into pieces because the pantograph works on segments no wider than about 20 cm and about 190 cm long. The pantograph operator, who replicates the model in 16 or 24 pieces, is a specialized carpenter skilled in assembling the carved elements. Only these three professionals ensure that the production is more qualified and valuable.
Decoration
Decoration, always entirely handmade, becomes an even more skilled element in various finishes. Those made in Florence are incomparable to those from any other region:
“Gouache” decoration, used throughout art history—from the Renaissance, born in Florence, to all other stylistic periods—applies to both gold leaf (e.g., Zecchino and Antique Patina) and genuine silver leaf finishes (Ghiaccio, Bianco, Consumato, Strappato). These can be further treated with Meccata (covered with a special ancient color, still used today, called Mekka, in finishes like Mekka and MeccaAntica), to resemble gold when there was no budget for real gold in the past.
