Description
Exclusive Italian classic furniture combined with Baroque and Renaissance styles is the hallmark of Modenese. Their passion for beautifully crafted Italian furniture begins with a deep respect for original craftsmanship and refinement. This stems from extensive knowledge and skills passed down through generations of artisans. It is the key to their international success, undoubtedly recognized and respected by the most discerning clients. It is a kind of homage to many people who have worked on this brand for 200 years!
A bit of history – because only then can we understand the purpose of producing elegant Italian furniture in a classic style
The story begins in northern Italy, in the small village of Casale di Scodosia, known for its tradition of wood processing. It is there that the Modenese Gastone luxury classic furniture factory is located. The factory is owned by the Modenese family, who have been operating in the wooden furniture industry since 1818. Family secrets and traditions have been passed down from father to son through 7 generations. And how did it all start?
In 1818, like most families in the area, Modenese established their own workshop and began producing what was needed in the nearby municipalities and towns – wooden agricultural tools. This was solid, old-fashioned craftsmanship, essential at the time. From this seed, fascinating multi-generational manufactories arose. Their rhythm was driven by simple tools and true craftsmen. After World War II, Modenese’s production gained popularity not only locally but also abroad, primarily in Germany. The family remains faithful to their traditional style, even if the produced furniture changes slightly according to buyers’ preferences. This is what truly shapes an exclusive brand – consistency and tradition!
An important factor behind Modenese’s class are three unchanging aspects: baroque classicism, solid wood as the primary material, and exclusively handmade production. This is their alphabet and foundation, ultimately determining where they stand today and what they aim for.
Luxury classic furniture from Italy – changes after the fall of the Berlin Wall
Today, the brand’s success is driven not only by Gastone Modenese’s three sons: Renzo, Renato, and Francesco – but also by his grandson Paride. All continue the family traditions and manage the factory. A significant milestone for the company occurred in the early 1990s, when after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Modenese Gastone’s production became known in Russia and the CIS countries. This allowed for increased recognition and the design of increasingly new collections that are conquering the world.
In recent years, the number of factory employees has increased, and now it is a team of young professionals, who love Italian design and exclusive interiors. Today, Modenese Gastone is represented by people from 7 countries, and all speak 16 languages together. Modenese is a true heritage of Italian craftsmanship. A multi-generational brand producing top-class furniture for stylish interiors. Lots of classicism, opulence, beautiful fabrics, materials, and baroque elements. That’s exactly what Modenese is.
Italian furniture for classic salons and interiors – what does the production look like?
The production at Modenese Gastone involves meticulous selection of high-quality wood and precise processing of natural wood by our artisans. Only valuable wood species are used in the manufacturing process: noble varieties such as cherry, walnut, oak, and ash; also, for inlays and veneers, only selected materials are used: radica (the part of the tree near the root), walnut, ash, mahogany, ensuring that the furniture surfaces are elegant and refined.
In the next stage, experienced carpenters prepare raw, hand-carved furniture. The entire carving process is performed entirely by hand using traditional carpentry tools. The front surfaces of consoles and other furniture parts feature charming inlays made from various materials: small pieces of different types of wood, marble, and mother-of-pearl are inlaid into the wooden surface, creating a rich palette of colors and a variety of wood textures.
The unpolished, carved wooden furniture is handed over to the painting workshop. During the staining and finishing of the furniture composition, artisans use special spray diffusers to ensure that the color is as uniform as possible, matching the finishing sample selected by the client. The lacquered furniture then proceeds to the next drying stage. It's time to add some splendor to the furniture using gold, silver, bronze, and other types of leaf. Throughout the entire production process, gilding is done manually: artisans apply a special glue to the decorated surface and cover it with a tiny piece of gold (or silver, etc.). Then, using a special stiff brush, the small gilding pieces are pressed into the wooden surface. Depending on the desired level of gloss and density of the gold decoration, artisans use from 2-3 up to dozens of layers of gold in this process!
In the next stage of furniture decoration at Modenese Gastone, talented artists, graduates of the Venetian Academy of Fine Arts, hand-paint the furniture, bringing the most secret dreams of clients to life. Traditional Venetian scenic motifs appear on wardrobe doors, and vibrant floral patterns bloom on table tops. Artists will paint custom designs on the furniture surface according to client requests.
After lacquering and decorating, all stylish sofas, luxury armchairs, poufs, chairs, bed headboards, and wall panels are upholstered with high-quality fabrics. Then, all furniture undergoes three phases of quality control. This ultimately results in genuine and sincere luxury.
The quality of the wood, individual paint drying ovens, artisanal carving processes, wood processing, and the meticulous work of outstanding artisans and artists guarantee the highest quality of the final Modenese Gastone product!
