iMuranesi is a unique venture born from the imagination of Giampaolo Barbin. This man contributed a legacy from one of the most renowned Venetian glassmaking families.
iMuranesi models are one of a kind thanks to the combination of several equally important elements. These include the harmony of detail, the use of modern manufacturing methods, sophisticated and bold design, and strong interaction between top designers and glassmakers.
Today, it is a popular international company that combines modernity with traditional glassmaking values.
Behind this modern project lies a tradition dating back to the Middle Ages. At that time, the authorities of the Venetian Republic decided to concentrate all glassmakers in one place. To this day, its name is known worldwide, and the glass originating from there is breathtaking.
The Barbin family is one of the respected medieval noble families. These glassmakers have left their mark on Venice since the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, by decree of the Council of Ten, the Barbin family was included in the Golden Book of Social Distinction of Murano, in other words, among the most renowned glassmakers in Venice.
Additionally, the family was granted a coat of arms – two bearded wise men facing each other with a star between them on a blue background – which can still be admired at the Murano Glass Museum.
