Kenneth Cobonpue is a multiple award-winning designer and manufacturer of exclusive furniture from Cebu, Philippines. His journey into design began in 1987, studying industrial design at Pratt Institute in New York. During his studies, he completed leather and woodworking workshops near Florence, Italy. He then studied furniture marketing and production at Export-Akademie Baden-Württemberg in Reutlingen, Germany. All of this was part of private and government scholarship programs. Kenneth returned to Cebu in 1996 to manage the Interior Crafts of the Islands, Inc., a furniture design and manufacturing company founded by his mother Betty Cobonpue in 1972. 

Discovering that modern design can have a new face using natural fibers and materials, Kenneth created functional art pieces that offer an alternative to Western definitions of modern design. Today, KENNETH COBONPUE has become internationally renowned for its captivating designs and a rich client portfolio, including Hollywood stars and members of royal families.

World-renowned designers

Through a masterful combination of nature, traditional craftsmanship, and innovative technologies, designer and creative director Kenneth Cobonpue has received international awards and recognition for his creative, eco-friendly, and distinctive works. Collaborating with some of the leading global designers—from local names to emerging talents—Kenneth started designing in the Philippines and shared his vision with a worldwide audience. 

Numerous awards and recognitions are his personal achievements. The top five include the Japan Good Design Awards, the main prize at the Singapore International Design Competition, the Design for Asia Award in Hong Kong, selection among the best brands by the American Society of Decorators, and the French Coup de Coeur award. His projects have been featured in several editions of the International Design Yearbook published in London and New York. The Phaidon book titled "& WIDELEC" highlights Kenneth's position as a leader of a new movement combining new technologies with craftsmanship. In 2007, TIME magazine named him "the first virtuoso of rattan." Kenneth was named Designer of the Year at the first Maison et Objet Asia held in March 2014 in Singapore.
