Malabar’s design originates from Porto, in northern Portugal, a region with a long and strong tradition of handcrafted products.

The identity of this prestigious brand is based on the architectural and artistic heritage of the past five centuries. 

International experience and a pursuit of perfection are the details that define such original companies. Emotions, handcrafted craftsmanship, and space-inspired design create an explosive mix of luxurious furniture.

The various techniques used in creating products from natural wood produce incredible effects, as seen in Malabar’s exceptional collections. An important aspect of the design is the combination of neutral and black colors.

The company’s name itself comes from Malabar black pepper. Along with other spices, it changed the course of trade history with the discovery of the Cape. The rarity of original spices prompted Portuguese merchants to chart a bold sea route.

What raw materials does Malabar use in its production?

The brand employs the most luxurious types of wood, including: ebony, walnut, American walnut, oak, ironwood, elm, basswood, olive wood, bird’s eye, irregular grain, poplar, satinwood, and ash.

Malabar also uses ancient lacquer techniques. First, copper, gold, silver, pink, and tiger-colored leaflets are applied, then lacquered. 

The types of glass used by the manufacturer include: dark glass, smoked, gold, antique, and antique brown.

The marble varieties are diverse, including: Sahara, gray Kenzo, Nero Marquina, Portoro, Gris Douro, Black Gold, Guatemala Verde, tiger skin, Ochiro, Calacatta Vagli, Estremoz, Carrara gold, Carrara, White Extreme, and travertine.

Metals are selected based on efficiency and quality. High-quality premium metals include copper, stainless steel, and galvanized steel.
