Art Deco - the diamond of applied arts
Artists associated with the Art Deco movement managed to tame the Secessionist fervor without falling back into academicism. They imposed geometric rigor on the multitude of colors (inspired by Fauvism) and decorations, Development of Art Deco occurred in the 1920s - the period after World War I, a time of economic growth that brought hopes for a life of prosperity and freedom.
