The first is based on the idea that everyday objects should be aesthetic, but primarily functional, crafted in an elegant, simple style - with symmetrical lines, from solid materials, where every element is carefully considered in the final form.
Art Noveau is the complete opposite of Thistle - decorated items are a combination of functionality and artistic craftsmanship, elaborate Art Deco, and asymmetry.
