Description

Set of four frames featuring 18th-century engravings by Klauber, housed in beautiful rectangular frames made of gilded wood with inlays of blue lapis lazuli-colored paper on the outer profile, decorated with gold embellishments.
Under the original glass are images of saints Ambrose, Gregory the Martyr, Augustine, and Geronimo, engraved by the German artist Katharina Klauber (1740-1813), belonging to a renowned family of engravers from Augusta, Germany, specializing in high-quality sacred images. Notably, the etchings depict:
1. S. Gregorius M. Conscripsit sermones rectissimos et veritate plenos. Preacher 12.10;
2. S. Ambrosius Sunt quaedam difficilia intellectu 2.Petr.3.16;
3. S. Augustinus Tria sunt difficilia mihi. Pov.30.18;
4. S. Hieronymus Columnae Coeli contremiscunt et pavent. Iob.26.11.
The engravings are bordered with a red line and a light blue mat. The items, consistent with their age, are in good condition with minimal signs of moisture damage.

Luxurious antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for decorating our interiors. Today, there is a growing number of enthusiasts of high-quality vintage items that possess a distinct character and soul. It is a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the design of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its own distinctive features.

Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few key ones stand out. Eclectic furniture refers to the 19th century, notably the Biedermeier style. Its early variations include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis Philippe style, and the Victorian English style. By the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.

Empire-style furniture dates from the late 18th to early 19th century, originating from Napoleon’s reign. It features significant similarities and references to Roman and Greek decorative motifs.

Neoclassical furniture, associated with Louis XVI, also draws heavily from ancient architecture. Noteworthy are antique pieces in Rococo and Louis XV styles. The Baroque style, derived from the Portuguese word 'barocco'—meaning an irregularly developed pearl—was characterized by highly ornate, luxurious furniture designed to dazzle with splendor and play a significant role in luxury interiors. Materials were selectively chosen to emphasize the grandeur of these pieces.

Today, we can observe how the Baroque style has greatly influenced modern classic furniture, which often resembles the historical period. The Renaissance style also made a significant impact, flourishing in the 15th and 16th centuries and leaving a lasting mark on furniture design. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and robust, using brown stains, moldings, strong bases, and relief decorations. These products were quite distinctive but also opened new possibilities, such as the construction of credenzas and broadly defined chest furniture. Mythology and ancient themes were also popular, with supports and legs often taking animal forms.

Lion paws and eagle heads are common motifs in Renaissance-style furniture. Currently, many global companies reproduce such furniture, inspired by Italian and French creators, as a sign of admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It is important to remember that each country perceived furniture production differently, giving each style a unique character. This is especially important when seeking exclusive antiques suitable for your interior.

The most important aspect of original antique furniture is authenticity. Ultimately, this is crucial for buyers, as many counterfeit items circulate on the market. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the product’s compliance with its description and photos. We also have access to art appraisers, historians, and experts from around the world.
