This exceptional project was conceived by a descendant of one of the most distinguished Venetian families, Giampaolo Barbin.
The iMuranesi models are unique thanks to the synergy of many equally important elements. These include the beauty of finish, the use of innovative manufacturing methods, sophisticated and bold design, and strong interaction between top designers and glassmakers.
iMuranesi is now a popular international brand that combines contemporary creativity with the traditional values of Murano glassmaking.
However, behind this modern model lies a tradition dating back to the Middle Ages. At that time, the authorities of the Venetian Republic decided to concentrate all artisans in one place. To this day, its name is known worldwide, and the glass originating from there continues to delight crowds.
The Barbin family is one of the prominent medieval families. In 1658, by order of the Consiglio dei Dieci council, they were inscribed in the Golden Book of Murano Society’s Notables, in other words, in the list of the most distinguished glassmakers in Venice.
The Barbin family was granted a coat of arms – featuring two bearded wise men’s heads facing each other with a star between them on a blue background – which can still be seen at the Glass Museum in Murano.
