Description

Pair of large Imari porcelain vases from 1800, monumental pair of Japanese vases measuring 165 cm in height, in excellent condition.

They are painted with dense decoration featuring geometric and floral motifs, polychrome, with shades of blue and red dominating on a white background. The body of the vases is adorned with Greek elements and gold accents, and in the center are four reserves painted with plants, floral motifs, and birds. The long neck with a wide flared shape is finished with a serrated edge and decorated with flowers on the inside.

They bear a mark at the bottom, as shown in the detailed photo.

They rest on original porcelain bases, beautifully decorated with the same ornamental motifs, placed on carved and ebonized wooden bases.

The height of the vase itself is 126 cm, on a porcelain stand 150 cm, and the total height including the wooden base is 165 cm.

They originate from a villa on Lake Como, dating from the last quarter of the 19th century, and are in excellent condition, with minimal loss of enamel thanks to the original firing process.

Stylish antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for interior decoration. Currently, there is a growing number of enthusiasts for high-quality vintage items that have a distinct character and soul. It’s a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the creation of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its own distinctive features.

Several key styles stand out among antique furniture. Eclectic furniture from the 19th century is influenced by the prevailing Biedermeier style. Its early 20th-century variants include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis Philippe style, and the Victorian English style. By the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.

Empire-style furniture dates from the late 18th to early 19th century, inspired by Napoleon’s reign. It features significant similarities and references to Roman and Greek ornamentation.

Neoclassical furniture reflects the Louis XVI style, which also draws heavily from ancient architecture. Notable and interesting are antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles. The next is Baroque, derived from the Portuguese word 'barocco'—meaning an irregularly developed pearl. These were highly decorative pieces designed to exude splendor and play a significant role in luxury. Exclusive materials were selectively used to emphasize the grandeur of these items.

Today, we can observe how much influence the Baroque style has had on modern classical furniture, which is often designed with a strong resemblance to the past. The Renaissance style is also significant, flourishing in the 15th and 16th centuries and leaving a lasting mark on furniture craftsmanship. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and massive, using brown stains, moldings, sturdy bases, and bas-reliefs. It can certainly be said that these were quite distinctive products, but they also opened up new possibilities, such as the construction of cabinets and broadly speaking, chest furniture. This style also drew inspiration from mythology and antiquity, with supports and legs often taking animal forms.

Lion paws, eagle heads—these are common features in Renaissance-style furniture. Currently, many global brands reproduce furniture inspired by Italian and French artisans. This reflects admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently in each country, giving each style a unique character. This is especially important when searching for an exclusive antique that suits your interior.

The key to stylish antique furniture is originality. Ultimately, this is crucial from the buyer’s perspective, as many counterfeits circulate on the market. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the product’s authenticity and compliance with the description and photos. We also have appraisers, art experts, historians, and specialists from around the world at your disposal.
