Description
Para of antique frames embroidered on a simple silhouette of silk satin in ivory color, with cotton embroidery and a gold lamé with floral elements and love knots. Inside are two oval half-length images of saints, made from salt dough (one broken and glued) and decorated with a cold inscription on paper from the market. The ovals are mounted on small fabric-covered panels (one edged with piping). These are devotional monastic works from the second half of the 18th century, originating from central Italy.
Exclusive antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for decorating our interiors. There is currently a growing number of enthusiasts of high-quality vintage products that have a distinct character and soul. This is a nod to history, creating, and designing classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its distinctive features.
Many styles characterize antique furniture, but we can highlight a few key ones. Eclectic furniture belongs to the 19th century, during which the prevailing Biedermeier style was popular. Its early variations include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis Philippe style, and finally the Victorian English style. By the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.
Empire-style furniture and accessories date from the late 18th to early 19th century. Everything was influenced by Napoleon’s reign, which imposed a significant resemblance to Roman and Greek decorative motifs.
Neoclassical furniture reflects the Louis XVI style, which also strongly references ancient architecture. All antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles are particularly interesting and worth noting. The Baroque style, whose name derives from the Portuguese 'barocco'—meaning an irregularly developed pearl—was characterized by very ornate furniture designed to radiate splendor and play a significant role in luxury. Materials were selectively used to emphasize the grandeur of these pieces.
Today, we can observe how much the Baroque style influenced modern classic furniture, which is designed with a strong resemblance to the historical period. An important style is also Renaissance, which flourished in the 15th and 16th centuries and left a significant mark on furniture-making art. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and massive, often using brown stains, moldings, sturdy bases, and bas-reliefs. These products were quite distinctive but also introduced new possibilities, such as the construction of credenzas and broadly defined chest furniture. There was also an interest in mythology and ancient times, with supports and legs taking animal forms.
Lion’s paws, eagle heads—these are common features in Renaissance-style furniture. Currently, many global brands reproduce such furniture, inspired by Italian and French creators. This reflects admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently in each country, so each style had its unique character. This is especially important when searching for elegant antique pieces suitable for your interior.
The most important aspect of stylish antique furniture is originality. And this is ultimately crucial from the buyer’s perspective, as many fakes circulate on the market. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the product’s authenticity and compliance with the description and photos.
