A conventional mirror straight from Italy - Ongaro & Fuga

We are delighted to present to you the exceptionally luxurious Ongaro & Fuga manufactory, founded in 1954 by Franco Fuga and his wife Tullia Ongaro. The collaboration of these two highly creative individuals has resulted in a distinctive and fresh perspective on art. They proudly emphasize that Ongaro & Fuga is a centuries-old tradition, through which they revive the magic and incredible Venetian mirrors.

Their talent was inherited by their son Julian, who continues the family traditions. Through collaboration with renowned artists and designers, he creates a bridge to the future. This is a significant nod to family and multi-generational craftsmanship. Julian believes that every cloud or colorful Italian facade reflected in the lagoon waters provides vibrant material for new projects. Many of these majestic mirrors are faithful reproductions of historic pieces. Ongaro & Fuga is part of the Consorzio Promovetro di Murano – a very important consortium that is a member of Confartigianato Venezia and Confindustria Venezia. For over twenty years, they have been actively working to strengthen the image of artistic glass to preserve and defend the thousand-year-old Murano glass art. This is a highly significant initiative that does much good for cultural heritage. Ongaro & Fuga are proud to hold the Promovetro certification for producing their mirrors on Murano.

What does production look like?

It is a truly extraordinary product in its essence. The reflection of this beauty is a very long process—laborious work done with hands, heart, and soul. Because of this, Ongaro & Fuga’s exquisite mirrors come at a price. The effort involved often exceeds 100 hours and can include thousands of decorative elements. This is genuine luxury and a prime example of how strong European family manufactories are. For centuries, it has been artisans who drove the evolution of the premium industry, shaping the final appearance of the product with their hands. Everything begins with a sketch on paper. Then, the glass is gradually shaped to fit the design, using very delicate and smooth diamond grinding stones. Step by step, they refine sharp edges and uneven surfaces. And so, from a brilliant idea, an exclusive harmony emerges, blending tradition with modernity! It’s magic—these mirrors, if desired, can become the focal point of your interior.
