In this valuable oil painting, Salvatore Marinelli is inspired by compositions by the Italian painter Evaristo Baschenis; an almost exclusively still life artist, he mainly depicted sets of musical instruments, often covered with a thin layer of dust to emphasize the passage of time. His interest in musical instruments stems from the fact that Evaristo Baschenis was also a renowned musician of his time. Here, we admire a mandolin and a flute resting on a book, beneath which sheet music is visible. Against a dark background, there is a glass cup with a stunning bouquet of small flowers.
