However, this designer project is rooted in tradition that dates back to medieval times. At that time, the authorities of the Venetian Republic decided to concentrate all glassmakers in one place. To this day, its name is known worldwide, and the glass originating from there continues to impress crowds.
The Barbin family is one of the respected medieval families that established its presence in Venice as early as the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, by order of the Council of Ten, the Barbin family was recorded in the Golden Book of Social Notability of Murano, in other words, among the most distinguished glassmakers.
Additionally, the Barbin family was granted a family crest — depicting two bearded wise men looking at each other with a star between them on a blue background — which can still be admired today at the Glass Museum on the island of Murano.
