It includes personal letters and notes, storyboards, posters, sketches, on-set photographs, and the spoken history of Chaplin and some of his closest collaborators. It reveals the improvised invention as well as the meticulous planning that made Chaplin the first international film star. A precise 12-frame strip from City Lights (1931), cut from a 35 mm print in Chaplin's archives, is included in the first edition.
