Description

Architecture inspired by trees has emerged in several cities across Southeast Asia, inspiring Malabar to incorporate it into contemporary interior design. The German firm Ingenhoven Architects developed plans for Marina One, a new high-rise building in Singapore, whose architecture is inspired by trees.

The modern Marina table is a reinterpretation of a tree trunk into an artistic furniture element, perfect for creating a nature-inspired environment in a contemporary living space.

The contemporary Marina table features two different tops; one made of wood with a myrtle veneer and the other of transparent glass, both supported by a polished brass structure, giving this artistic piece of furniture a luxurious style, ideal for any modern living area.

The Malabar brand was founded in 2012, with the launch of a wide range of decorative Fado guitars and a collection of stylish World Architects furniture. It has designed and released a total of 5 exceptional furniture and accessory collections.

Malabar has made its mark at major international trade fairs such as 100% Design London, Maison & Objet, Decorex, Stockholm Furniture Fair, and Seoul International. These are among the top venues for showcasing design.

Malabar’s design originates from the Porto region in northern Portugal, an area with a long and strong tradition of handcrafted products.

The identity of this luxury brand is rooted in the architectural and artistic heritage of the past five centuries.

International experience and a pursuit of perfection are the details that define such original companies. Emotions, handcrafted craftsmanship, and space-inspired design create an explosive mix of elegant furniture.

Various techniques in working with natural wood produce incredible effects, as seen in Malabar’s exceptional collections. An important aspect of their design is the combination of neutral and black colors.

Vivid and striking hues dominate, significantly deviating from classic and stereotypical furniture.

Besides wood, the brand uses brass, gold and silver leaf, as well as other high-quality raw materials.

The Portuguese soul is very colorful and fascinating, clearly reflected in bold furniture designs.

The company’s name derives from Malabar black pepper. Along with other spices, it changed the course of trade history with the discovery of the Cape. The rarity of original spices motivated Portuguese merchants to chart daring sea routes.

This remains true today, as Malabar continues to set highly individual boundaries in design and evokes strong emotions with its projects. They are very liberated, seductive, bold, and extremely exclusive.

And these are exactly the types of products we love and feature on the My Luxury Products platform.

What raw materials does Malabar use in its production?

The brand employs the most exclusive types of wood, including: ebony, walnut, American walnut, oak, ironwood, elm, basswood, olive wood, bird’s eye, irregular, poplar, satinwood, and ash.

Malabar also uses ancient lacquer techniques, first applying sheets of copper, gold, silver, rose, or tiger’s eye, then sealing with lacquer.

The types of glass used by the manufacturer include: dark glass, smoked, gold, antique, and antique brown.

The marble varieties are diverse, including: Sahara, gray Kenzo, Nero Marquina, Portoro, Gris Douro, Black Gold, Guatemala Verde, Tiger Skin, Ochiro, Calacatta Vagli, Estremoz, Carrara gold, Carrara, White Extremez, and travertine.

Metals are selected based on efficiency and quality. High-grade premium metals such as copper, stainless steel, and galvanized steel are used. Specifically: chrome, nickel-plated black brass, polished brass, gold-plated brass, polished copper, antique brass, silver brass, brushed brass, polished brass, and hammered polished copper.

We would be happy to arrange a meeting to present all available materials about the Malabar brand. Our Luxury Products team will advise and select the most suitable furnishings and accessories for your interiors.
