Description

Architecture inspired by trees has emerged in several cities across Southeast Asia, inspiring Malabar to incorporate it into contemporary interior design. The German firm Ingenhoven Architects developed plans for Marina One, a new high-rise building in Singapore, whose architecture is inspired by trees.

The modern Marina table is a reinterpretation of a tree trunk into an artistic furniture element, perfect for creating a nature-inspired environment in contemporary living spaces.

The contemporary Marina table features two different tops; one made of wood with a myrtle veneer and the other of transparent glass, both supported by a polished brass structure, giving this artistic piece of furniture a luxurious style, ideal for any modern living space.

Malabar brand was established in 2012, with the launch of a wide range of decorative Fado guitars and the stylish World Architects furniture collection. It has designed and released a total of 5 exceptional furniture and accessory collections.

Malabar has made its mark at major international fairs such as 100% Design London, Maison & Objet, Decorex, Stockholm Furniture Fair, and Seoul International. These are among the top venues for showcasing design.

Malabar’s design originates from Porto, in northern Portugal, a region with a long and strong tradition of handcrafted products.

The identity of this luxury brand is rooted in the architectural and artistic heritage of the past five centuries.

International experience and a pursuit of perfection are the details that define such original companies. Emotions, handcrafted craftsmanship, and space-inspired design create an explosive mix of elegant furniture.

The use of various techniques in working with natural wood yields incredible effects, as seen in Malabar’s exceptional collections. An important aspect of their design is the combination of neutral and black colors.

Vivid and striking hues dominate, significantly diverging from classic and stereotypical furniture.

Besides wood, the brand uses brass, gold and silver leaf, as well as other high-quality raw materials.

The Portuguese soul is very colorful and fascinating, clearly reflected in bold furniture designs.

The company’s name comes from Malabar black pepper. Along with other spices, it changed the course of trade history with the discovery of the Cape. The rarity of original spices prompted Portuguese merchants to chart a daring sea route.

This remains true today, as Malabar continues to set very individual boundaries in design and evokes strong emotions with its projects. They are very liberated, seductive, bold, and extremely exclusive.

And these are the products we love to feature on the My Luxury Products platform.

What raw materials does Malabar use in its production?

The brand employs the most exclusive types of wood, including: ebony, walnut, American walnut, oak, ironwood, wenge, basswood, olive wood, bird’s eye, irregular grain, poplar, satinwood, and ash.

Malabar also uses ancient lacquer techniques. First, copper, gold, silver, pink, or tiger-colored leaf is applied, then lacquered over.
