Description

The Malabar brand was established in 2012 with the launch of a wide range of decorative Fado guitars and the collection of elegant World Architects furniture. It has designed and released a total of 5 exceptional furniture and accessory series.

Malabar has made its mark at major international trade fairs such as 100% Design London, Maison & Objet, Decorex, Stockholm Furniture Fair, and Seoul International. These are among the top venues for showcasing.

The production of Malabar furniture originates from the Porto region in northern Portugal, an area with a long-standing tradition of handcrafted products.

The identity of this prestigious brand is rooted in the national architectural and artistic heritage of the past five centuries. International experience and a pursuit of perfection are the details that define such original companies. Emotions, handcrafted craftsmanship, and space-inspired design create an explosive mix of luxurious furniture. Various techniques of working with natural wood produce incredible effects, as seen in Malabar’s exceptional collections.

An important aspect of the design is the combination of neutral and black colors. Vivid and bold hues dominate, significantly deviating from classic and stereotypical furniture. Besides wood, the manufacturer uses brass, gold and silver leaf, and other high-quality raw materials. The Portuguese soul is very colorful and fascinating, clearly reflected in the daring furniture designs.

The company’s name derives from Malabar black pepper. Along with other spices, it changed the course of trade history with the discovery of the Cape. The value of original spices prompted Portuguese merchants to chart a bold sea route. Even today, Malabar defines very individual design boundaries and evokes strong emotions with its projects. They are very liberated, seductive, bold, and extremely luxurious.

What raw materials does Malabar use?

The company employs the most exclusive types of wood, including: ebony, walnut, American walnut, oak, ironwood, elm, basswood, olive wood, bird’s eye, irregular grain, poplar, satinwood, and ash.

Malabar also uses ancient lacquer techniques. First, copper, gold, silver, pink, and tiger-colored leaf are applied, then coated with lacquer.

The types of glass used by the manufacturer include: dark glass, smoked, gold, antique, and antique brown. The marble varieties are diverse, including: Sahara, Gray Kenzo, Nero Marquina, Portoro, Gris Douro, Black Gold, Guatemala Verde, Tiger’s Eye, Ochre, Calacatta Vagli, Estremoz, Carrara Gold, Carrara, White Extreme, and Travertine.
