This beautiful oil on canvas by Francoise Vigneron was inspired by the oriental and Arab landscapes of French painter Charles-Théodore Frère, who, after traveling through the Middle East, became a fully orientalist painter in Cairo.
Using short, mixed brushstrokes, Vigneron was able to depict a scene with exceptional detail. The figures, camels, architecture, and landscape are highly naturalistic in their portrayal.
