We proudly present the exceptionally designer craftsmanship of Ongaro & Fuga, founded in 1954 by Franco Fuga and his wife Tullia Ongaro. The collaboration of these two highly creative individuals gave rise to a bold and fresh perspective on art. They proudly emphasize that Ongaro & Fuga is a centuries-old tradition, through which they revive the magic and incredible Venetian mirrors.

Their talent was inherited by their son Julian, who continues the family traditions. Through collaboration with outstanding artists and designers, he creates a bridge to the future. This is a great homage to family and multi-generational craftsmanship. Julian believes that every cloud or colorful Italian façade reflecting in the lagoon waters provides vibrant material for new projects. Many of these majestic mirrors are faithful reproductions of historic pieces. Ongaro & Fuga is part of the Consorzio Promovetro di Murano – a very important consortium that is a member of Confartigianato Venezia and Confindustria Venezia. For over twenty years, they have been continuously working to strengthen the image of artistic glass to preserve and defend the thousand-year-old Murano glass art. This is an incredibly important initiative that does a lot of good for cultural heritage. Ongaro & Fuga are proud to hold the Promovetro certification for producing their mirrors on Murano.

What does the production of these famous mirrors look like?

This is a truly extraordinary product. Its beauty is reflected in very long work. Crafted with effort by hands, heart, and soul. That is why Ongaro and Fuga’s artistic mirrors come at a premium. The work involved often exceeds 100 hours and can include thousands of decorative elements. This is genuine luxury and a testament to how strong European family workshops are. For centuries, it has been artisans who drove the evolution of the premium industry, with their hands deciding the final appearance of the product.

Everything begins with a sketch on paper. Then, the glass is gradually shaped to fit the design. Using very delicate and smooth diamond grinding stones. Step by step, refining sharp edges and uneven surfaces. And so, from a brilliant idea, an exclusive harmony is born, blending tradition with modernity!
