Miry Nicholas, Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, gr. Άγιος Νικόλαος από τα Μύρα της Λυκίας, cs. Swiatitiel Nikołaj, archbishop of Myra in Lycia, miracle-worker (born c. 270 in Patara in Asia Minor, died c. 345 or 352) – bishop of Myra in present-day Turkey. A saint of the Catholic and Orthodox Churches, where he is titled Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker.

He became famous as a miracle worker, saving sailors and the city from famine. He demonstrated bravery and justice by saving imperial officials unjustly sentenced to death.

According to legends, Saint Nicholas inherited significant wealth from wealthy parents, which he gladly shared with the poor. He was distinguished by piety and mercy. The residents of Myra elected him as their bishop. After a life full of zeal and good deeds, he died in the mid-4th century, spontaneously venerated by the faithful. Stories are known about three unjustly imprisoned officers released thanks to his intercession; about three poor maidens married thanks to dowries discreetly provided by the Saint; about three youths saved from execution; and sailors rescued from a shipwreck.

One of the shipwrecked sailors carrying the saint on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem was reportedly resurrected by him. Saint Nicholas also resurrected three young men killed for not paying their inn bill. When Myra was taken over by Arabs, Italian merchants managed to take his relics and transport them to Bari in southern Italy.
