Description
Round galvanized metal lantern with three curved satin glass panels, one of which is framed by opening doors. This vintage art deco-style lantern serves as an entry chandelier, ideal for the atrium of a historic building. It has been recreated for oil lighting, as evidenced by the presence of a round oil lamp housing (currently absent) at the bottom of the structure.
Manufactured in Italy, it dates from the early decades of the 20th century and is functional, in good condition, without dents, with a beautiful patina in greenish tones due to zinc oxide. Ready to hang.
Inside, it is fitted with an E27 socket.
Beautiful antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for interior decoration. Currently, there is a growing appreciation for high-quality vintage items that possess character and soul. This is a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the design of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its distinctive features.
Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few are particularly prominent. Eclectic furniture originates from the 19th century, during the reign of the Biedermeier style. Early 20th-century variations include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis-Philippe style, and the Victorian style. Toward the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.
Empire-style furniture dates from the late 18th to early 19th century, inspired by Napoleon’s reign. It features significant similarities and references to Roman and Greek ornamentation.
Neoclassical furniture reflects the Louis XVI style, which also draws heavily from ancient architecture. Notable and interesting are antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles. Baroque, derived from the Portuguese word 'barocco'—meaning an irregularly developed pearl—was characterized by highly ornate, luxurious furniture designed to impress with splendor and play a significant role in opulence. Materials were selectively chosen to emphasize the grandeur of these pieces.
Today, we can see how much the Baroque style influenced modern classic furniture, which often mimics the grandeur of the past. The Renaissance style, flourishing in the 15th and 16th centuries, also left a significant mark on furniture design. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and solid, using brown stains, moldings, strong bases, and relief decorations. These products were quite distinctive but also introduced new possibilities, such as the construction of credenzas and broadly defined chest furniture. Mythology and ancient themes were also popular, with supports and legs often taking animal forms.
Lion’s paws and eagle heads are common features in Renaissance-style furniture. Many global brands now reproduce such pieces, inspired by Italian and French artisans, as a tribute to the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that furniture styles varied by country, each with its unique character. This is especially crucial when selecting exclusive antique pieces for your interior.
The key aspect of elite antique furniture is originality. This is ultimately important for buyers, as the market is flooded with counterfeits. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the authenticity of each item, matching the description and photos. We also have access to art appraisers, historians, and experts worldwide.
