Description
Round galvanized metal lantern with three curved satin glass panels, one of which is framed by opening doors. This vintage art deco-style lantern is an entryway chandelier, ideal for the atrium of a historic building. It has been recreated for oil lighting, as evidenced by the presence of a round oil lamp housing (currently absent) at the bottom of the structure.
Manufactured in Italy, it originates from the early decades of the 20th century and is functional, in good condition, without dents, with a beautiful patina in greenish shades due to zinc oxide. Ready to hang.
Inside, it is fitted with an E27 socket.
Beautiful antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for interior decoration. Currently, there is a growing appreciation for high-quality vintage items that possess character and soul. This is a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the design of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its distinctive features.
Several key styles stand out among antique furniture. Eclectic furniture dates back to the 19th century, during the reign of the Biedermeier style. Early 20th-century variations include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis-Philippe style, and the English Victorian style. Toward the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.
Empire-style furniture originates from the period between the late 18th and early 19th centuries, influenced by Napoleon’s reign. It features prominent references to Roman and Greek ornamentation.
Neoclassical furniture reflects the Louis XVI style, which also draws heavily from ancient architecture. Noteworthy are antique pieces in Rococo and Louis XV styles. Baroque, derived from the Portuguese word 'barocco' meaning an irregularly developed pearl, is characterized by highly ornate furniture designed to radiate splendor and luxury. Materials were selectively used to emphasize the grandeur of these pieces.
Today, we can see how much the Baroque style has influenced modern classic furniture, which often resembles the historical period. The Renaissance style, flourishing in the 15th and 16th centuries, also left a significant mark on furniture design. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and massive, often using brown stains, moldings, strong bases, and relief decorations. These pieces were quite distinctive but also introduced new possibilities, such as the construction of credenzas and broadly defined chest furniture. Mythology and ancient themes were also popular, with supports and legs taking animal forms.
Lion’s paws and eagle heads are common motifs in Renaissance-style furniture. Many global brands now reproduce such pieces, inspired by Italian and French artisans, as a tribute to the beauty of Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that each country had its own approach to furniture making, giving each style a unique character. This is especially important when selecting an exclusive antique for your interior.
The key to high-end antique furniture is originality. This is ultimately crucial for buyers, as the market is flooded with fakes. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the authenticity of each item, matching the description and photos. We also have access to art appraisers, historians, and experts from around the world.
