Description
Unlike our standard model, item number M-145, we selected an impressive exterior paint called “Eggplant” for this model. With the “Teardrop” body by French master coachbuilder Figoni & Falaschi, it is characterized by elegance and unparalleled aesthetics.
During the research and development of the Talbot-Lago Type T 150 SS series, CMC aimed to emphasize one specific line variant, the “Memory Edition”. This variant is inspired by the original vehicle, which was showcased in the Rosso Bianco collection in Aschaffenburg, and is in a dark eggplant color (but with headlights integrated into the bodywork and positioned behind a chrome metal grille). During a visit to this collection, the Talbot-Lago inspired future co-founder of CMC, Mr. Herbert Nickerl, in such a way that his desire to create a similar scaled 1:18 Talbot became a lasting dream. We are fulfilling that dream!
In CMC’s early years, this demanding vehicle type was still too ambitious to meet the high challenges of the century. From today’s perspective, after more than twenty years of experience in modeling classic cars, we were ready to recreate this dream vehicle with unmatched elegance and the aesthetic of the “Teardrop” body by French master coachbuilder Figoni & Falaschi as a world-class, high-end model.
When CMC decided to recreate the Talbot Lago Coupé with the “Teardrop” body as a model, our designers’ pulse quickened, and the joy of recreating such a masterpiece was immense. But at the same time, it was also a challenge and a duty to do justice to this demanding project. Many experts worldwide agree that this vehicle can no longer be classified according to the standards applicable to cars. Talbot Lago, with its bodywork made by the renowned French coachbuilders Figoni & Falaschi, looks like it’s from another planet. The car is simply what could be called “the most modern” today.
When Talbot first presented the Coupé at the Paris Motor Show in 1937, guests were impressed. This quickly led to the terms “goutte d'eau” (water drop) and “teardrop-shaped coupé”. Although never officially used, these words aptly described its extraordinary shape. Everything about this fascinating vehicle and every detail reflects a deep passion for design and matching accessories. Every line and rail supports the overall effect without overpowering it. This car is a harmonious unit—from the narrow front fender to the chrome exhaust tip. Additionally, it features a luxuriously appointed interior with artistic craftsmanship in noble wood and elegant leather.
The six-cylinder inline engine runs silkily under the Coupé’s hood, producing 140 or 160 HP depending on the model. Its powerful torque ensures energetic driving and good acceleration figures. Only 16 of these cars—each differing by subtle or more noticeable details—were built between 1937 and 1939. Only about a quarter of these impressive vehicles are still known today as witnesses to a bygone era when form was still a priority.
