For Ettore Bugatti, building cars was simply a matter of seeking perfection, an art that must be presented in an aesthetic way. The Type 35 marked the beginning of an era in which Bugatti became the most renowned brand in motorsport for about seven years. Through the “Nation Color Project,” we aim to bring the celebration of colorful racing scenes from the 1920s and 1930s into your home. The rules required that every Grand Prix participant be dressed in the colors of their homeland. This model is finished in the official color of Portugal.

France, passionate about motorsports, inaugurated the first “Grand Prix” race in 1906. After World War I, “Great Race” events began to take place in other countries. As the popularity of “Grand Prix” grew worldwide, it quickly became synonymous with international motor racing. Black-and-white photographs in modern archives do not do justice to the vibrant racing cars from the 1920s and 1930s. Since regulations at the time mandated that each participating team must have cars finished in the characteristic colors of their country, the starting grid often presented a fantastic, colorful scene.

With this in mind, CMC focused on the Grand Prix Bugatti T35, the most dominant racing car of its era, to showcase the diversity of national racing colors once common on race tracks. The project began by presenting the racing colors of Great Britain, Spain, and Poland. Each version is limited in quantity based on historical achievements and the car’s appeal.
