Two similarly looking transporters, Scuderia Ferrari and Maserati, might be the most famous and technologically advanced transporters of that time. They were mounted on the chassis of a Fiat 642 RN2 bus. Thanks to the open body designed by Bartoletti, the transporter was suitable for towing three race cars.

In those days, race cars were occasionally transported to the racetrack by transporter. But the carriers were not limited to just transporting valuable cargo. They also had many other functions. Each transporter had a small but complete inspection station. It also served as crew quarters.
