The Gran Sport from 1930 was the most fascinating and successful car from the Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 series. The original vehicle, which we used as the source for our high-quality replica, is housed in the Alfa Romeo Storico Museum in Arese, Italy. The extraordinary design of this Spyder was crafted by the renowned coachbuilder Zagato.

In the 1930s, Alfa Romeo still did not produce its own bodies but purchased them from specialized manufacturers: in the case of the 6C 1750 GS, the body was supplied by Zagato. This proved to be an excellent choice, as Zagato once again delivered outstanding work with their distinctive design language. The four-meter-long car featured two spare wheels, hidden in the rear fender. In bad weather, a fabric top provided emergency protection or rain cover. A striking feature of this vehicle was the removable red plastic covers on three headlights, designed to improve aerodynamics.

The 1750 GS was powered by a 6-cylinder inline engine developed by Vitorio Jano, the brilliant chief engineer of Alfa Romeo. It produced an incredible 85 HP at 4500 rpm. Some factory racing cars had cylinder heads welded onto the engine block (testa fissa), allowing them to reach up to 5000 rpm and achieve a remarkable 102 HP. Whether equipped with 85 or 102 HP, the Gran Sport was exceptional. Thanks to its low total weight of 920 kg and a shortened wheelbase of 2745 mm, which dramatically improved handling, the Gran Sport became the most famous Alfa Romeo of its time. Numerous significant victories across Europe, such as Mille Miglia in 1930 and 1931, as well as the Irish Tourist Trophy race in wet conditions — to name just a few — established it as the undisputed dominator of that racing era. Only the grueling 24-hour endurance race at Le Mans proved too challenging for the 6C 1750 GS.
