Description

R. Zacchetti Girl with a Doll. Antique bronze sculpture from the Fascist era, circa 1938, depicting a girl holding a doll in her arms. On the front and back, there is an engraving with the title "Bambole," and at the bottom, a signature connection by R. Zacchetti.

It rests on a rectangular base made of green marble, with a minor chip in the front right corner; apart from this detail, the sculpture has a beautiful bronze patina and is in excellent condition. It comes from a private collection of a Milanese residence.

The bronze figure itself, without the marble base, measures 26 cm in height, 13 cm in width, and 16 cm in depth.

Renzo Zacchetti exhibited at Permanente in Milan and has been present at union exhibitions in Milan since 1936, organized by the Interprovincial Fascist Fine Arts Union in Milan. He continued his exhibition activity, reopening the Palazzo from 1953 to 1972, mainly at social exhibitions and biennials.

Luxury antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for decorating our interiors. Today, there is a growing number of enthusiasts of high-quality vintage products that possess a distinct character and soul. It is a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the design of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its own distinctive features.

Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few are particularly notable. Eclectic furniture refers to the 19th century, dominated by the Biedermeier style. Its early variations include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis Philippe style, and finally the English Victorian style. By the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.

Empire-style furniture and accessories date from the period between the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Everything stems from the reign of Napoleon, which imposed a strong resemblance to Roman and Greek decorative motifs.

Neoclassical furniture is in the Louis XVI style, which also heavily references ancient architecture. Interesting and noteworthy are antique products in Rococo style and Louis XV. The next is Baroque, a term derived from Portuguese "barocco"—meaning an irregularly developed pearl. These were highly decorative pieces meant to radiate splendor and play a significant role in luxury. Exclusive, selectively used materials were employed to further emphasize the grandeur of these items.

Today, we can observe how much influence the Baroque style has had on modern classic furniture, which is designed with a strong resemblance to the historical period. An important style is also Renaissance, which flourished in the 15th and 16th centuries and left a significant mark on furniture-making art. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and massive, often using brown stains, moldings, sturdy bases, and bas-reliefs. These products were quite distinctive but also opened new possibilities, such as the construction of cabinets and broadly speaking, chest furniture. They also drew inspiration from mythology and ancient times, with supports and legs taking animal forms.

Lion paws, eagle heads—these are common motifs in Renaissance style. Currently, many global brands reproduce furniture inspired by Italian and French artisans, reflecting admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It is important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently in each country, and each style had its own character. This is especially important when searching for a luxurious antique that suits your interior.

The most important aspect of prestigious antique furniture is originality. This is ultimately crucial for buyers, as the market is flooded with counterfeits. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the authenticity of the product, matching the description and photos. We have appraisers, art experts, historians, and specialists from around the world at your disposal.
