Description

Beautiful design combined with a fascinating history gives the Maronese brand its identity.

Brothers Giovanni, born in 1941, and Iginio, born in 1942, were still boys when, in 1966, they decided to establish, along with two other partners, Angelo and Bruno, the Maronese furniture factory on via Taglio in Maron di Brugnera.

It was Monday, October 3rd, the day when the four young people, with a capital of 2,000,000 lire, began their adventure. These were years of great change, remembered today as the "good years," times when the founders had big dreams and high hopes for their realization. A very close connection to the territory is the starting point for the story of Maronese. In the 1960s, the Livenza region around Brugnera was rapidly transforming, opening up to a new industrial structure. But the values remain the same as always, passed down from fathers to children from generation to generation: an incredibly strong dedication to work, innate sense of duty, and a deeply rooted desire for development.

In this context, the initiative of the Polesello brothers and partners Copat and Billot found fertile ground, transforming their entrepreneurship into an internationally renowned company. They were not involved in trade but in transportation, which led them to understand the furniture industry and get to know their clients. They traveled all over Italy, from Sicily to Aprica, northward towards Sondrio, and one day they asked themselves: why can't we make furniture ourselves?

In an old building belonging to one of the partners, the first furniture prototypes were created. There was enough time to finish the shed, and the company moved to a larger location suitable for installing machinery to meet the growing demand for production. Wives helped, some employees were hired, and "la Maronese" began to gain fame. In 1967, the first showroom models were presented at the Salone del Mobile Italiano in Milan. This was just the beginning of a long success story that continues to this day.

The business did not start immediately; it was necessary to establish a reputation and showcase the product. Furniture manufacturers from Pesaro and Brianza were already established in large markets, while in the Pordenone area, furniture companies were just starting out: to challenge the competition, production had to be excellent. Customers scrutinized every detail, first removing drawers to see if they were perfectly made or rather "bird's beak" joints. The furniture passed quality tests, was displayed in shop windows across Italy, and sold quickly.

Work grew, and with it, Maronese.

New expansions in the mid and late 1980s were a visible and tangible result of a company that continually invested in technology, people, and quality—qualities that have always distinguished it from the beginning. Who knows how to change something through the style of its collection. 1986 was a year of economic revival for the entire furniture sector, both in Italy and abroad, and Maronese increased exports. Germany became a key foreign market for years: ad hoc models were created to meet the functional and aesthetic requirements of demanding clients. During the busiest periods, especially during the 1995 boom, over 38 trucks left Maronese warehouses every week. The experience, techniques, and knowledge gained over the years allowed Maronese to confidently face the world and prepare for the complexities of the 1990s.

The mid-1990s proved to be an ideal time for "showing off," communicating externally a consolidated image of the company that, along with other Group companies, now felt the need to share space within an environment that expressed the concept of a complete home, always in tune with the times. In Brugnera, a large space of 7,000 square meters was built, later expanded to 11,000 square meters, encompassing the entire production of the ATMA Group: the Poma showroom. An ever-updated scenographic path that captures the state of furniture, trends, and lifestyles through the proposals of individual brands. A place for networking with other companies in the group, as well as with retailers, where events and meetings can be organized, and relationships nurtured.

The arrival of the new millennium brings significant changes and innovations; the world is becoming increasingly interconnected, and language is global: in the furniture industry, living areas are becoming areas of life, lifestyle is evolving into a way of living, and trends are setting new styles. Maronese introduces contemporary production with ACF: something still missing that allows Maronese to make another leap forward in quality.

Night and day. From its production center in 2008, ACF became a brand: a reference point for the development of a new concept of night and day design, which immediately stood out for its innovative approach to products and continuous search for new shapes and original finishes.

Minimal aesthetics and compositional simplicity are perfectly integrated with the need for functionality and versatility, making interior solutions very current. In 2014, the classic-modern Maronese joined the contemporary ACF: Maronese ACF is born, the unique and great reality that breathes life into the new “Maronese house” project. A comparison of two generations, but above all two generations that today walk the same path towards the future together.

Maronese, the parent company of the ATMA group, currently occupies an area of 48,000 square meters. Continuous investments in structural expansion, technological innovation, and increasingly specialized human resources have allowed us over the years to build a solid yet dynamic identity. The connection to the territory and the people, but above all the strong bond of the Polesello family, is the guiding theme of this long story, which has been successfully ongoing since 1966.
